I made these images in Thailand ib about 2010. I think I made about 50 images of various sizes. They are all made from handmade local paper from the Chiang Mai district in Thailand. As such they are collages. At the time I was living pretty much like a monk meditating and continuing an aesthetical lifestyle. Because of this I had many visions and inner “experiences” for weeks on end I had the vision of subtle Buddha’s – that is what these images represent – hidden bell shaped Buddha’s everywhere and in everything.
I loved the paper there were so many different types and textures some had leaves and flowers in it – wonderful stuff. I could play with it for hours – sometimes just looking at it and feeling the textures.

Stephen Humphries Born Liverpool England 1979 Stephen has a range of styles from thick expressive paintings of trees to tight detailed paintings of Greek gods. Since achieving a B.A degree in Fine Art in 2001 at the age of 21 he has had many exhibitions in various places in England, Europe and Thailand.
